Iraldo Alves de Oliveira peers from a city bus window as he commutes across town to make a guest sermon at a related Assembly of God church. Oliveira is in high demand as a speaker and example of religious and familial success.



Oliveira stops on the street to talk to sister-in-law Graça and her minister about an addition planned for their church. Oliveria's skills as a builder are popular among area churches as well.



Iraldo peers up at the heavens before walking into a sister church on the other side of Engenheiro Pedreira where he joined with another congregation for an evening service.



As at home waving a Bible as he is swinging a hammer, Oliveira retells his tale of salvation for a new congregation of evangelicals.



No longer drinking or gambling the family budget away, Oliveira has answered his own prayers for a better life.
