Brazil's Pantanal Wetland

Luiz Otavo Gomes Pereira, 19, captures a calf for inocculation on the Fazenda Rio Negro in Brazil's giant Pantanal Mato Grossense wetland. The pantanal, covering an area half the size of France, supports one of the most intact arrays of wildlife in the world, despite 200 years of cattle ranching. Subdivision of properties in the region weaken the economic viability of the traditional ranches.
