RADIATION

The site of a uranium mill in operation in Monticello, Utah, from the late 1940s to early 1970s sits below the Abajo Mountains, Tuesday, Julty 27, 2010. Workers from the office of Utah congressman Jim Matheson held sessins in Monticello and Montezuma Creek, Utah, to help constituents apply for government benefit programs. Though aid was available in applying for the Radiation Exposure Compensation Program, no one asked for the benefit in either location that day. (Kevin Moloney for the New York Times)
