A U.S. Air Force security forces wait atop an armored car as maintenance work is performed on a Peacekeeper Intercontinental Ballistic Missile in an eastern Wyoming silo at rear. The enormous four foot-thick blast door was removed. Intense maintenance schedules are performed on the U.S. missile fleet to keep it in a state of readiness despite the end of the cold war.
